A few words on history

Thomas Jefferson 1 said “I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past”. He might be right from his view but if we hear from Marcus Garvey 2 then we should think it twice. Garvey said “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots”. Who is right? May be both of them or anyone of them or none of them. It might be a question of long debate. But we have no time to stand still at certain dispute. We are in need of the discussion of the history. C. S. Lewis 3 said “ If you read history you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were precisely those who thought most of the next. It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this.” This quotation is also true for the Muslims.
